Ben Hur by Bitch Magnet
Year: 1990

Featuring a perfect blend of noisy production and a beautiful guitar-led atmosphere, this album just turned into my favorite of the noisier side of the genre. The first track pulls you in with it's long, ever expanding intro, then erupts into a spoken word section that immediately brings Slint to mind...

In fact this whole album reeks of Fugazi and Slint influence, yet it's place on the timeline, a year ahead of Spiderland and before Fugazi started really utilizing noise, this album seems to carry it's own weight. The album progresses to include some very interesting mathy elements and out of tune basslines. Some of the textures lead me to say it's almost shoegaze in nature. The result is something every fan of the genre needs to hear in their lifetime.

10/10

I'll check that dictionary, but in the meantime I'm impressed - as is everyone else in the world - by your eloquence, obvious accomplishments and success, and the evidence of your blazingly high intelligence.
