Yeah, that is a flaw and I get that but I don't think they really needed to spend time establishing characters. It spoke to the urgency of what was going on. There really wasn't any time to dig deep into that. They spent a huge amount of time setting up the main lead and that's all that's really needed because of her connection the overall scheme of things.
