John Cage is a genius in his own way. I've never listened to anything he's recorded(it's strange he recorded anything. He HATED listening to records felt they poorly captured the experience).
I consider him more a philosopher/teacher than a composer/musician. However, after watching a documentary on him, and hearing him read a lot of his narrative. He profoundly effected my grasp on what I consider music.
