Uh, obviously he had to use a band live but he had no set "band" he'd occasionally have a guest musician doing something on the track but it was pretty much all him.

That's really not that much considering how many songs are on XO and how many different instruments are on it. Hardly a full backing band, like I said guest musicians.

The majority of his music he did himself.
Have you read Elliott Smith and The Big Nothing?
It can back that statment up.

You don't even need to read elliott smith and the big nothing you just need to look at his CD credits and not to be so obsessed with being right all the time that you're deluding yourself into thinking something wrong.

That was a rather silly argument^

Anyway I just got into Elliot Smith. It surprised me how much I enjoyed it. I'm generally not into soft indie stuff like I said before, but Elliot does that kind of thing exceptionally well.
