More on par with recent releases, as it's nowhere near the quality of their first four. At least IMO.

How many bands are you aware of that produce the same record 30 years later?

I'm a big enough Metallica fan to enjoy this album, but not a big enough Metallica fan to say this is my favorite.

I totally disagree that James sounds bad and Metallica sounds tired. I've seen them live and they are as good as ever. Plus, the songs on this album are great. And what's with ''The day that never comes''? It's one of their best songs. I love that ''Stairway to heaven''-song type.

Yeah, and what lonely douche wouldn't bang the prettiest waitress at Denny's?

It doesn't remind me pf Stairway To Heaven, it reminds me of Fade To Black, and Sanitarium, and One. You see a pattern forming here?

And I've seen them live as we, they sounded like horse**** because James does his best to be melodic now. He just doesn't pull it off.

The sound is a moot point, because they've already done this to a better result.

That's the type of songs that I was talking about. The songs that you mentioned are this type, too - they start without drums, with quiet, beautiful guitars, then with calm vocals and drums start playing, and they slowly become harder and harder, and in the end there are screaming vocals, and heavy guitars and drums.
And about Metallica, it's not just your opinion, many people think that Metallica "sucks" these days, but I am not agree at all (and I am not even a metal fan).

That's why you like them better now, because they're Metallica Lite.

Fade To Black and Sanitarium were great, but those were impressive songs on impressive albums.

You want to listen to thrash metal? Listen to Slayer. Or Black Breath. Or Megadeth. Or Venom. Hell, even Anthrax.

You want nostalgia for when you first started liking metal? THEN pull out the Metallica. Master Of Puppets gives me the most thoughtful, introspective headbanging ever.

PS- Kill Em' All does not count for the above statement. Cuz seriously, that **** rules.

Metallica lite? Only if you're a basement dwelling clown who clings to your denim jacket and permed mullet.

They haven't been the Metallica you run yourself to since Cliff died. Its a sad thing, but it happened.
