Default The Beach Boys' Pet Sounds vs The Beatles' Revolver

I hear Sgt. Pepper's Lonely Hearts Club Band compared to Pet Sounds frequently, but for some reason, Revolver is never mentioned. I feel it's a better comparison, as they were released in the same year. Sgt. Pepper's was recorded after The Beatles had had a chance to digest Pet Sounds, and McCartney has stated it as a major influence. Revolver was also slightly influenced by Pet Sounds. but not to the extent of Pepper.
I prefer Pet Sounds, as all the songs have more lyrical depth, and you can almost trace a story throughout the album (with the exception of Sloop John B, which was included for commercial reasons). Revolver is more of a casual listen; I've often put it on random. They are very different albums, however.
I hope the poll works. My device has been stubborn lately.

Not even a contest. Revolver is so far superior.

Reading the book Respect Yourself about Stax Records, there's a cool story about how The Beatles wanted to record at Stax in 1966 which would have been for Revolver, although a newspaper leak destroyed any plans due to the obvious reasons. It's already a great album, but just think of what could have happened...

BTW - Not voting. Both are great on their own merits. It all depends on what flavor you want.

Revolver - Sharp, stylish, edgy Pop that was a great reflection of the time with some stunning (and at the time jaw-dropping) experimentation. My favorite Beatles album. Technically, I seriously listen to this more than Pet Sounds, though.

Pet Sounds - Perfect reflective Bedsit album that broke away from the Beach Boys' sound that was getting quickly out of date. Brian Wilson's own personal win. With my taste it's a light affair, but you can't deny the influence it's had on a lot of adventurous music. The break away itself was a spark to many musicians.

Two more steps forward for Pop Music in a year of many more from others.

I love both, but I gotta give Revolver the edge.

I like both albums, but I'm more of a Beatles fan overall so Revolver gets my vote.

Where's the 'I Think They're Two of the Most Overrated Albums Ever and Would Rather Listen to Beggars Banquet Instead' option?

Or the 'I'd rather listen to The Kinks Are The Village Green Preservation Society instead' option while we're at it?

pfffft
Funny how Beatles fans have myopia and only count the second half of their career totally ignoring the generic bland stuff they did for the first half of it.
