I'm generally opposed, but since yes with standards is winning I would hope only mods would be allowed to make them and the artists would have some common denominator..

Yes that idea is good, but not reliable. Think of the quality of many of the passer by posters. Its a flame war bound to happen. And more arguments when some are closed, and some are not.

I think they should be allowed but with standards. Finding a poll that says "A vs B, discuss" is a little tiring. Finding one that says "Pepsi vs Elephant" is even worse. They should be required to have some common ground laid out in the starting post and an explanation for the comparison. If you aren't willing to provide some backing to your poll, you shouldn't be posting it.
