Default Thanks, MusicBanter

I’m sure it will piss some people off that I would say such things, but I wanted to say that I don’t think the forums have been this enjoyable in some time. We’ve lost quite a bit of the uni-minded conventional wisdom that said we could never speak favorably about bands, we’ve really moved into other parts of the forums (media comes to mind) and are less inclined to create things like “arcade” to stop idiot posters. We lose a lot less members now as well. Time and lives still play a part for these guys, but people are of the mind set now that you can come once in awhile and not be considered a “former poster” (Adidasss likely set this precedent).

All in all I think these forums have come a long way since I arrived on its shores, and it was never that bad prior, but it’s the small things that count, and in this regard we’ve really cleaned up everything. I just wanted to say thanks to all of you guys for making this forum an enjoyable place to be. Not just the mod’s and the regulars, but also those posters who lead by example; posting in threads they generally want to post in, staying out of ones they don’t care about or don’t like. From a guy who’s had enough of these boards on two separate occasions, thanks for making my curious interest in coming back warranted.

We get criticised a lot for being hard on new people but some of the people we have had join this place in the past few months are really knowledgeable , enthusiastic and in some cases made me raise my own game.

I have noticed a shift in the demographic of this forum we seem to get a lot less metal & emo kids and a lot more 20/30 somethings with wide ranging tastes joining and staying around which wasn't always the case before.

Dear God, I thought this was one of those "Musicbanter sucks, so long and thanks for all the fish" threads...

Anyways, here here to both of youz. I hope the trend will last...

Also, thanks to all those who try to make this place better (including all the mods naturally, Lee's been especially active on both fronts methinks so special big-up to him). Em....yeah....

I thought that too...was expecting the end of an era.

+1 to the Big3.

less of an era, more of a social decay.

The day I leave, i'm taking two of you with me...be warned.

As someone who is fairly new, I have to say I've found this place to be welcoming and friendly. I don't really see it being hard on newbies at all.

So, hey, mods and other long-timers: thanks for making this a great forum!

I think the arrival of Jackhammer shifted the demographic to a more favourable outlook personally

Nice post Big3...

Yeah I am fairly new and am still partially reluctant to post in some threads, but overall the new access to music is great. It wasn't too long ago where I was fairly single minded in terms of music, but places like this and mates quickly opened up my mind. Its awesome to find so much 'random' but quality stuff. So much better than forums that are dominated by one genre group/fans. Nothing wrong with them just talking about the same stuff constantly gets boring

BTW was it just me or was the site down for a while today? Guessing as much based on the small amount of new posts...
