Default Attention Journal Authors! Your work will be rewarded (sort of)!

Yeah that's right. As I've been more or less recognised as the Journals Guru (!) I've decided to take it upon myself to award, er, awards for certain journals and aspects of journal-ness. I'll be making my choice over the next week and will announce the winners in a star-unstudded edition of the Monthly Journals Update Post (GOT to think of a snazzier title for this!) next Sunday.

All choices will be made by me. That may seem a little unilateral, even dictatorial, but rest assured, any dissenting opinion WILL be crushed! Seriously, as I am quite possibly the only one who reads ALL your journals every week, I think I'm uniquely qualified to make that determination.

All awards will be presented in image format, which you can then choose to proudly display however you want (sig, avatar, mantlepiece) or hide away in the cellar in embarrassment. And yes, members can win more than one award. Or none. Depending on how good their journal or journals is or are. And no, mine are of course not eligible. That would be far too, as Junkyard Donner so charmingly put it once, mastubatory.

In addition to the awards ceremony, which will be run on a shoestring budget and in the MB canteen, down the back by the soda machine that clanks like a robot from a sci-fi B-movie, I will also be presenting a look at the best (and worst, maybe) of the journals in the past year, so anyone who wants to have a particular article, review, section or entry highlit let me know and it shall be done. PM me or post here, I don't mind.

So make a date for next Sunday, December 29, for the final journal update thread of 2013 party. And bring a bottle: I'm not made of money, you know!

Just a reminder that this week's Update Thread is a special, extra-long extended version looking at the year in journals and also featuring the very first Annual Journeys Awards (geddit? Journals = Journ-eys? No? Ah I give up!)

So check it out, it's going to be awes --- rather good actually.

Bribes will be accepted up to midnight Saturday. Leave them behind the old blue bin in the men's washroom at Dublin Airport, Arrivals Section. The usual place, you know...
