I think this a terrible idea. The only diffrence I can foresee is more "this is in the wrong forum" posts.

I do think that this place has outgrown the Lounge now.

It doesn`t hurt to expand on things

We need to attract more members? We already have about 10 new members each day. It's true that it would keep members, but mainly members that spend a lot of time in the lounge, or think we need our setup to be identical to a similar music forum. I personally don't really care, I just like to come here to discuss and learn more about music, and maybe share a few jokes in the lounge. That's All.

Even if we do get 10 newbs/day, my impression is that in any given month, we "gain" about 2 new members to stay for a duration, and lose about 3.
Maybe it's just me, but this site seems really slow lately, meaning more members to be lost. I was just trying to think of ways to upgrade the music discussions, by putting a catalyst to the Lounge (thus keeping and satisfying existing members, while increasing membership and the likelihood of them staying).
It's also never a bad idea to follow in the footsteps of a superior music site like MX. They are run and moderated much better than here, and it shows, with there 300+ members online at any given moment.
And a mere 16 responses to this poll suggests too much apathy to bother pursuing this idea. It's also pretty pointless, because gregb doesn't read these. Case closed.
Thanks for all the feedback btw (for those that did respond)

Resurrection!

Its a great idea. Why hasnt this happened yet? Especially in the rock/metal forum, there are mixed opinion on numetal, prog, classic, etc. The idea seems pretty popular. *points to poll*

I like these better. Better than the games/jokes forum, I think.
