Default whaaa........??

I can't believe that no one has posted anything about Steven Wilson yet... I think Steven Wilson is amazing, his music is very inspiring. I first got into his music last summer when my boyfriend gave me a Porcupine Tree cd, In Absentia. So beautiful, Collapse the Light Into Earth is my favorite, and I'm actually listening to it right now..

I would recommend buying Lightbulb Sun by Porcupine Tree to anyone who would like to experience Steven Wilson. Also, visit his myspace page, he has links to all of his other bands there...

We have a Porcupine Tree thread here:

Porcupine Tree

but a dedicated Wilson thread is a good idea too, considering the mass of side projects he is in.

My main issue with Steven Wilson, to be totally honest, is the point that he can be perceived as coming across as self-satisfied and arrogant. I saw a documentary on the makings of Opeth's Deliverance and Damnation, both of which Wilson produced. He seems to be insinuating that his own project's music exists on a higher plane.

It's called Lamentations. It is an interesting documentary. It is available on um... DVD : ). I think you'll see what I mean when watching the Wilson interview parts of the show.

Have you heard anything that comes out of the mouth of Eric Clapton, Little Richard, or Chuck Berry at any time? I think most successful or influential musicians are somewhat bigheaded or egotistical. I understand Steven Wilson isn't on their level, but you gotta admit, he's pretty accomplished himself. And if he's insinuating that, it's probably true...

The first step to being a succesful musician is knowing how amazing you are in comparison to everyone else.

Does everyone know Steven Wilson will produce the next Anathema album? I cannot wait to see how it will end up...

Anyways has anyone seen this:

Steven Wilson owns Mikael Akerfeldt of Opeth in a Prog Quiz

I mean, I like Opeth and Mikael Akerfeldt more than Steven Wilson, (though the tour with DT made me a bit mad that Akerfeldt could go that low,) but that was just embarrassing. I thought it was fun to watch...

C'mon, you know as well as I do that that is a ridiculous thing to say.
