Default Syd Barrett (Solo)

After his work with Pink Floyd, he released two studio albums three if you count Opel.

Some tracks are astounding, but a few are just signs of his implosion.

What does everyone think of his solo career?

Being one who likes "outsider music", I liked Syd's output.

His solo career is a bit like Eminem's. For every Lose Yourself there's a song that talks about smackin' girls behind's, or annoyingly bitching about his mom.

Syd solo was mediocre. His brain was fried on acid, so his solo work just never amounted to anything truly relevant.

We owe him a debt of gratitude for "Piper at the Gates...", but everything he did after that was pretty much a flash in the pan, IMHO.

Syd solo is good, and of course Pink Floyd with Syd was so much better than they were without him.

Sorry boo boo, they were mediocre at best without him.

Piper is easily their best album.

^ what he said.

although it may have been COMPARABLE lyrically to post syd barrett floyd albums, the composition and sound of work done without him was much better.

I'd say his solo stuff was interesting rather than good.

I think Barrett album is much better than The Madcap Laughs , probably because it's more organised & focused. Although I think most of that is due to Dave Gilmour being involved in the production which made it much more listenable than it's predecessor.
