Are you kidding ?
He was terrible at Woodstock , It was the first public performance by the Band of Gypsies. They had virtually no rehersal & most of the band had no clue what was going on for most of the time & a lot of it was made up from improvised jamming. His Isle Of Wight show is a much much better album.

Why don't we all just give up right now?

No wonder people think music today is never as good as it used to be, with negative attitudes like that. Give bands you haven't heard, or maybe haven't even formed yet a chance, don't shoot them down as doomed to fail before you even listen. Maybe someone will be as good, maybe someone will be better. Maybe someone already is and you just haven't heard them yet.

I know, I can only assume people don't look hard enough. Possibly because they're locked in their room listening to Hendrix albums.

you have a point but some people simply prefer older music. its a matter of taste. i personally prefer older music but i still love some new stuff thats around- every era has its great bands. theres people around now like jack white, johnny greenwood and matt bellamy who are brilliant guitar players- yet i still think hendrix is better. its not an anti-modern thread, its just for people who prfer the older stuff.

Also Joe bonamassa and malsmteen are also guitar gods of the modern era. Yeah I'm with you on preffering older music too. Just a personal preference I understand, but a well chosen one IMO. I also enjoy listening to red house by jimi. I have to say that i prefer SRV cover of little wing over jimis original. I have Jimi plays berkley, it kicks ass, not as much as how the west was won or song remains the same, but still its one of my fav. music dvds that I own. I wish I was around back in the day to go to woodstock. How amazing to see Hendrix, CSN, and the Who all play on the same stage.

He's good, for virtuoso's I love Buckethead, at least he takes the risks, and everything isn't breakneck.

Cosstown traffic is probably his best rock song.
