Led Zeppelin vs. The Beatles (rock, genre, fan, John Lennon)

So if VS threads are now against the rules, and we deleted the PF vs KC thread for that reason, then why not this one? Especially since this has a lot more potential to turn into an all out flame war.

Nah, they're not against the rules so long as they are well thought-out and lead to productive discussion.

Anyway, I much prefer the Beatles to Led Zeppelin. Primarily because they're much better melodists, and to me, I feel that's what ultimately matters the most. With that said, it's a pretty nonsensical statement given that melody was not really Led Zep's aim (or the aim of most of the bands in the rock era for that matter).

Eh, that reflects exactly why it's a stupid comparison. Not only do the two bands have next to nothing in common, but they didn't even have the same aims/intent, or belong to the same period (ideologically that is; not chronologically).

Zep! I like both but they just do more for me. I feel like Im on some adventure when I listen to Led Zeppelin.

I don't really understand how Proggy can list Leaf Hound in his top 10 bands than still run around bashing Led Zeppelin.

Hating on one of the most historical rock bands ever doesn't make you a badass or make you unique. Why not try and find all the good that they did, cause there is a lot.
