Symphony #9 "From the New World" by Dvorak is absolutely amazing and one of my favorite classical pieces, it crescendos better than any piece I have ever played(or listened) to before.
I wouldn't go with William Tell though as mentioned above, it's commercial classical and there are sooo many better pieces out there.
