If you're looking for a dramatic, powerful composer I'd say Beethoven is the way to go.

He was crazy! And amazing! I've yet to encounter a beethoven piece i don't like (and I've gone through a lot of beethoven, playing and listening to it).

If you have never heard of Dax johnson you should look into him. He is more neo classical, but he is very good.

Also Camille Saint-Saëns is one of my favorites. I mostly like the dark side of classical so this is a must if you like that kind of stuff.

Symphony #9 "From the New World" by Dvorak is absolutely amazing and one of my favorite classical pieces, it crescendos better than any piece I have ever played(or listened) to before.

I wouldn't go with William Tell though as mentioned above, it's commercial classical and there are sooo many better pieces out there.

My personal favourites are Chopin and Handel. When I want something loud and booming, any of the Russian composers will do the trick. I especially love Rachmaninov and Stravinsky.
