Post John Cage

I haven't actually listened to any of his work, though I've been meaning to for a long time (if anyone has any, I'd appreciate an upload) but I've read some of what he's written and I find it pretty interesting. It's easy to write him off as a pretentious nutjob but then again so are most revolutionary musicians. In any case, I really created this thread to share this link:

John Cage - Uncyclopedia, the content-free encyclopedia

because I find it to be absolutely hilarious.

His music is far from Classical. More Avant Garde than anything.

Anyway, heres a video.

YouTube - John Cage 4'33

And to think some of the people who call the music I listen to "pretentious" actually love this guy.

I also disagree with this being avant garde. I believe his genre is minimalism which falls under the umbrella term of classical.

I saw this on last.fm and it made me laugh:

28. 4'33" 126 plays

In any case, some of his music is very interesting. Lots of compositions based on chance (which kind of remind me of Doctor Nerve) some minimalist stuff... it's all good.

I like most of his works. I really enjoyed his book, Silence. I highly recommend it to those who love music, poetry or philosophy.
