Seeing this is being posted under a country, folk and world music thread, I am going to say that UK music is rather lame. When is the last time you heard a good UK country tune?

Never, why would we make any? I mean country began in America, it's about America, it belongs to America. Various artists have played in a country style and done covers, the only good one that springs to mind is Elvis Costello's 'Almost Blue' album, which is just his tribute to Nashville. There was a good duet with Johnny Cash on that record. This is not my area so somebody please feel free to correct me! But no, essentially the UK has folk music instead.

So did neo-conservativism and the MTV Awards! yay!
oh yeah and the Beatles ate up all the doo-wop and rock they could and then quickly made it irrelevant. But at the risk of getting into a Britain vs US thing, I'll just posit that the 60's was our decade, owing itself equally to what had come before. Apart from Bob Dylan passing the Beatles their first joint I don't think 'inventing country rock' is the highest of accolades... have you seen those awards ceremonies on TV? Plaid vests, denim and pyrotechnics? what??

Then you had it back for a little bit to make a couple of psychedelic albums and then we took it back again in 67!

Your user title: I pick fights is rather apt now. Why post this? If it is an informed opinion then I will listen. Man they sucked is not the best case for your defence is it?
