Martha Wainwright (singer, country, album, title, reviews)

very talented folk singer/songwriter with an impressive, impassioned voice. check' BMFA for proof of this. what do you guys think of her?
anyone got her self titled new album? i think its class personally.

Well at least from what I've heard, I like her music a lot more than her brother's. What songs do you like on the self titled?

BMFA obviously, ball and chain, the maker, far away...their all pretty good. yes id agree her music surpasses rufus's by a country mile.

I never liked Rufus much, but his last album is pretty damn good. Martha, I always heard, was nothing compared to her brother, which really didn't make me rush to check it out.

I heard a few tracks and liked them though, not heard the new album but it's nice to see some more people disagree with the Rufus golden boy theory.

She's on the Drowned In Sound label in the UK, right? I was at college with the guy who owns that label and he used to give me album reviews, printed out from the college computers. Damnit, I haven't even has a full-time job yet and he's running a label!

Martha's songs are pretty good. Her voice is excellent, and comparing it to Rufus Wainwright, I definitely prefer Martha for both songwriting and singing over Rufus (he's just drones and drones, higher pitched droning is still droning.)

I definitely like Martha better than Rufus in all aspects. Her smoker's lung singing is just a bit sexier than his.

I love Martha but I actually prefer Rufus nontheless, they're both great songwriters.
