Question need help finding a country/folk genre

QUICK EXPLANATION: the music genre used on explosm-railroad man (youtudotbe/y9fNaWycFrQ)

LONG EXPLANATION:
It has been a couple of years that i've been searching for a specific country/folk genre that i recently went looking again after hearing explosm-railroad man. It's a mix of country and folk, uses one melody for the entire song, the songs are usually telling a story and it's mostly used as improv and sung around campfires. Anyone got a clue?

Yore link, lolitswolf:

I guess this is a humourous version of a serious country song. The serious bit reminds me of Jimmy Dean:-

And if you want country music that laughs at itself, you could try Hank Wangford:-

(Another song HW does is not particularly good, but has a great title: Lassoo My Heart - You Only Herd The One You Love.)
