Question What's The Difference?

Hey Guys, I got a question. Basically, what is the difference between Electronic, House, Techno and Trance? And please don't drown be in technical music terms, just make your explanation simple so next time I go to a club or transfer songs on my Ipod, I'll know the difference. Thanks a lot guys!

Well my understanding of it is this.....

Trance is like very sort of trippy with lots of sort of floaty synths and is usually quite slow in tempo.

House is derived from disco & funk so it`s all about rythmns and bass.

Techno is uptempo full on dance music that usually has quite high BPM.

Thats my understanding of it anyway I may be totally wrong .

^ Sounds about right to me.

All of which have a mind numbing, coma inducing effect on me, particularly in night clubs.

techno is the least mind-numbing I find.. but it still has the 'same song playing one hour later' effect on my most the time.

I much prefer IDM or Electroclash (both musically and at clubs). That way you know when a song ends and another begins!

^ If they play anything electronic like, I prefer minimal, drum 'n bass and electro-rock.
