Default Shpongle

Simon Posford and Raja Ram are both electronic music masters in their own right, so of course they're gonna be incredible together. A perfect mix of outrageous psytrance and hefty world music influences, and some gnarly flute licks. The first time I heard them, my friend played "Before the Big Bang" while we were on acid, and I was considerably blown away.

All their songs are kick-ass, though. I just pre-ordered their new album, stoked about it.

Once Upon The Sea of Blissful Awareness is such a lovely song!
I had a chance to see them live but couldn't go!
Wish I would've, they seem like a wonderful group.

Shpongle seriously didn't have its own thread prior to this?
But yeah, Ineffable Mysteries is one of my favorite albums of any genre, though I've never really heard anything they've put out that I'd consider even mediocre. The themes played on throughout that album just give it a very satisfying sense of unity in an otherwise sprawling, beautiful mess. I haven't listened to their new one yet though; I really need to get on it.

Yeah, Posford is something of a musical genius. Hallucinogen, Shpongle, Younger Brother, The Infinity Project, Beast... no matter what project he works on, he tends to leave magic dust on it, and he's arguably the most creative musician in electronic music. Most artists could and would make an entire album out of the ideas that Posford crams into each and every track. Drug music at it's best (and, if you're too loaded, at it's most frightening too ).

I still kick myself for not going to see them back in April 2011.

Buy the DVD. It's brilliant and the next best thing. Not nearly as good as seeing them live I know, but still...

Meh. A little too flamboyant at times Shpongle is for my liking. I find myself feeling like I'm at a Mardi Gras listening to some of Shpongle's tracks.
