I personally heard only 3 albums from the list, but all was great. Hope anybody will find some good music too.

Only heard these but they are indeed great.

I stopped paying attention to Pitchfork when I learned that they go back and edit their reviews and ratings to look like they were always ahead of the current.

wait, actually? i know they re-review sometimes and change scores, but do you mean like they actively do this without telling people?

I don't know to what degree they still do it, since they're under a bigger spotlight now, but they've deleted and edited reviews in the past. E.g., UNKLE's Psyence Fiction was initially given a 9.8 and that review went missing. They also panned Belle & Sebastian's The Boy with the Arab Strap (0.8) in a review that has disappeared. In the Aeroplane Over the Sea originally received a. 8.7 but now its a 10. There are a couple of others I've forgotten where the initial review was mediocre, then after the album exploded the review was bumped up.

My understanding of their current process is that every album gets a bunch of reviews and a range of ratings from their writers, then Pitchfork picks the Pitchforkiest review and runs with that.

Huh. I stopped reading their reviews awhile ago because I'm so lazy I would rather listen to some review an album on YouTube, but that's still kind of upsetting.

p4k's tastes rarely align with my own, but I've listened to very little from this year so is there anything from this list that is "must hear" material?

I'd say that the Autechre and Avalanches releases are.
