Which is like some sort of 5 year old just begging to get attention from an adult. If we meet an Englishman who doesn't know about America - we don't give a f*ck... we're like, OK - whatever... the average american doesn't take it personally.
I think the attitude of the average american, and I do not speak for all Americans is, "Why do you think we should care about your country?" While I don't follow this train of thought - it does beg an answer - and I'm sure they would be interesting ones...

well my man, i've become a down to earth realist as of late and like i said, i don't blame anyone for being ignorant, there are far more importaint issues than learning geography or following world affairs ( on a day to day basis ). people who know too much are usually the ones that have it good and have far too much free time on their hands.
i think people are a little bit pissed off by the american attitude " we are the best, f
uck the rest" ( i don't think you can deny that that attitude exists ), noone likes arrogance ( even if it is the objective truth , or simply patriotism ). i know i'd be proud as hell to be an american, and would probably shove it in everyones face, just like i try to do with these little pluses of being a croatian , which is really pathetic.
and i think you hit the nail on the head with the child comparison, i think it really IS a desperate and pathetic need to be noticed. as a croatian poet once said "man, do not walk small underneath the stars", everyone feels the need to be considered special, to be noticed. that desire is especially present in people from smaller countries. by not knowing we exist, you somehow make us feel less importaint. and we want to be considered equally importaint as everyone else....( which of course isn't a realistic desire, but there you have it ).
i ,of course, am fully aware that i'm better than everyone else...
