i think pc's are great if you want to surf the internet or play solitaire.

macs are much better for people such as graphic artists, audio professionals, etc, because they can handle the programs.
It's the other way around. PCs offer much more functionality/control, but Macs have their little niche in the market when it comes to ease of use and graphics/audio creation... I am not a graphics/audio professional, but I suspect Macs are favoured in that area not because of anything to do with 'handling the programs', but rather the fact that Apples come with good free programs for those purposes.

Anyhow, I have no problems with Macs. Macs are better for some people and PCs are better for others. I do have a problem however with Apple selling an image rather than a product.

Also I'm sick of Mac evangelists piping on about the greatness of Apple... the common case is that Apples suit them because they're not too good with computers and they've finally found a computer they can use without problems. That's fine and they'll pay a higher price for this ease of use, but their personal preference doesn't mean that Apple is suddenly objectively superior and more reliable as they'd love to claim. It means that Apples are the better product for their purposes, since they cannot or do not want to acquire the knowledge allowing them to purchase a good PC, use Windows, and surf the net without inviting viruses to join in.

So yes, Macs suit some people, PCs suit others. I triple boot Ubuntu / Vista / XP. Ubuntu for most things and coding, Vista for Windows stuff and playing Battlefield 1 and XP for gaming.

I have a macbook laptop because I got it for free.
Otherwise I wouldn't really be fussed.

But that being said, I think macs do suit some people while PCs suit others. A lot of PC users go on about how crap macs are when most mac users have never had a problem with their device. It's a personal preference, I think.

I use Protools daily. There is a major difference between the way PC runs Protools, and a Mac runs Protools.

I would never use a "free" program in my profession. Imagine if albums were recorded on GarageBand? No. No dice, friends.

All I'm saying is that Mac's totally have a niche for people who NEED them. I think we are all in agreeance with this, no?

I know an audio engineer who uses a PC. So again, I think it's just a matter of preference.

I really don't care either way. My only issue with my mac is that it won't work with my Zune so I have to put songs on my dad's computer to get them on it. It's kind of a hassle.

A difference in the PC/Mac versions of the software or a difference in how well ProTools runs on PC and Mac? Assuming it's the latter and ProTools doesn't run as well on your PC, then I'll say this.

It's not a fair test to take an arbitrary PC and Mac, run ProTools on both, compare results, and then infer that a Mac will always be a better choice for audio work. The typical Mac will probably be better than the typical PC for audio work and this is because Apples tend to be geared towards audio whereas PCs are whatever you make them. If you buy a pre-built PC from a big retailer (the majority of PCs), you can't expect it to be great for audio work because that isn't the target market of the manufacturer.

However, you can build your own PC and customise it so that its audio hardware specs are equivalent to an Apple computer. It might end up being cheaper or more expensive. PC equivalents are generally cheaper, but I'm not sure if that is true when it comes to audio hardware.

But yeah, I don't know why people can't accept that PCs and Macs both have their merits and are better suited for particular people.

I use a PC, and I may as well be an audio/video professional. I use Adobe CS4, and it runs great (even with full HD video) on my $300 PC, with a $50 video card. I can only run newer graphics intensive games at medium or lower, but the only new game I play on my comp is Spore, and that runs fine on full settings. My comp has never crashed (although my external hard drive has, but that's another issue entirely). There is no reason why a PC can not run graphic intensive software, and if I bought a better graphics card I could run just about anything. I will admit that iMovie>Windows Movie maker, but since I use Adobe it doesn't matter. I don't have a huge problem with mac, I'm just used to using a PC.

Seriously, I thought the argument was settled two pages ago.

Strangely enough, Justice record on garageband....haha

I am shocking with technology and find the more user friendly non-nerd orientated playing field of the mac to be far superior for my uses. As for music software, i have a pro-tools set up, but can;t really be arsed using it for ****ty demos when I have an associate with a brilliant first class studio with all the equipment one could ever need at my disposal. Garageband is more than enough for all your ****ty demoing needs

right, but i dont make "sh*tty demos". i'm an audio engineer and use protools on a mac everyday. i'd never use a pc because they just aren't meant for it, IMO.

Haha, I think it's kinda funny that everyone takes offence to it. I mean, I really don't have anything against a PC, I just think Macs are better for what I need to do on a daily basis.

I kinda just wanted to see what everyones opinions were. We need a poll.
