Chad was more over the top, but it made him very sloppy, Dave was much cleaner, and he didnt play anything that wasnt necessary. |

Yeah, Dave's drumming was definitely more clean and solid, but Nirvana was never a really 'clean' band. Chad's drumming was much sloppier, but that aspect of his style made it more harmonious with Kurt's muddy riffs and Krist's clumsy bass playing.

Kurt was the only really sloppy musician in the band (and that was usualy only when he did a solo or a more complex guitar part) after Chad left, Dave and Krist played very simple, not impressive but certainly not sloppy in my opinion, they were a good rhtyhm section, they held the song together when Cobain went out of controll, it was a brillant contrast between discipline and controll and pure noise and mayhem, its one of the primary reasons i f*cking love Nirvana. |

I meant 'clumsy' as in lacking rhythmic abstrusity.
Their sloppiness is what made them so great and exceptional at the time.

AC/DC ??????
Are you people insane??? The nature of their music is simple , it`s just 12 bar boogie.Just because they don`t have 15 minute wankathon guitar solos doesn`t mean they`re bad musicians.AC/DC are one of the tightest live bands i`ve ever heard. And for the record I don`t mean not technically gifted musicians in this thread, I mean real sh*t ones. |

And you are right, AC/DC were not about technical wankery, and a lot of people hate them for it too, which is both sad and funny at the time time. Back on topic, its difinetely The Sex Pistols. |

I remember reading many years ago that Tina Weymouth was the girlfriend of someone in the band and they needed a bass player.......so they taught her how to play bass. I guess they didn't teach her very well...
In answer to the actual question of the thread, The Ramones was the first band to come to mind. Yes, I guess I'll have to tell 'em that I've got no cerebellum. |
