Good music for the less experienced... (Nirvana, track, quote)

My girlfriend is kind of a noob to music, she listens to the radio, but doesn't do much other than that. I need some help thinking of some music that would introduce here into some heavier music, but not through her off of it. Any ideas?

No really I agree with that.

Kids seem to get into music via Greenday, Nirvana and the likes. She'll find her own way if she's at all interested in music.

I don't think you can really help her. She's going to like what she likes, although you can point her in the right direction. Play all your favourite music when she's around so that it gets drilled into her brain. She will then have a good taste in music via possibly illegal subliminal messaging.
