The idea is to choose a genre you enjoy, and post a list of songs for the beginner to listen to. A starting point of exploration into new fields of music. For instance, I have heard a lot about this emo stuff. Perhaps I'll take 10 songs and put them on a cd and listen for a while, see if it grows, and maybe I will expand.

Anyway, I'll start off with Big Band music.

Take the A-Train
Opus One
In the Mood
Jivin' the Vibes
One O'clock Boogie
Begin the Beguine
Sing Sing Sing
Kalamazoo
String of Pearls
Pennsylvania 6-5000

There are plenty more, but there's 10 for a start.

Just to clarify, you mean One O'Clock Jump, right? Are we talking about the same song (I'm referring to the Basie classic)?

Yes, it's also called the One Oclock Jump. It just happens that the cd I have calls it the Boogie, so that's what I wrote.

And then I realized... like I was shot... like I was shot with a diamond... a diamond bullet right through my forehead. And I thought: My God... the genius of that.

Here's your chance to get on the right track and save your sorry souls.

Your Starter Kit To Northern Soul.

1. Just A Little Misunderstanding - The Contours.
2. Right Track - Billy Butler.
3. Our Love Is In The Pocket - JJ Barnes.
4. Move On Up - Curtis Mayfield.
5. Tainted Love - Gloria Jones.
6. Do I Love You (Indeed I Do) - Frank Wilson.
7. The Girl Across The Street - Moses Smith.
8. Lonely, Lonely Girl Am I - The Velvelettes.
9. Come On Train - Don Thomas.
10.Suspicion - The Originals.

Note: This is by no means a definitive top 10 of N/S...it's impossible.

Anyone having trouble getting hold of these, let me know and I will find a way to send them.
Hey I don't mind this right-track. It's very easy listening, I particularly like the Billy Butler song. I'll write some more up after a few more listens.
