Hmmmmm... a good point, and I have to admit to being guilty of this myself on this thread...

Well even if Nirvana is a knock-off of something thats beside the point.

But if we are going to get into that, I don't think they were a knock-off of one band I think they took bits and pieces from bands like Dinosaur Jr., Pixies, Meat Puppets, and The Vaselines.

Kurt Cobain even stated when Smells Like Teen Spirit was written they were basically ripping off the Pixies.

don't be knocking my Buddy Holly,

Buddy Holly was one of the first to write and record his own songs, and he wrote good stuff too, very much underappreciated. I love Buddy Holly and all the early Rock and Rockabilly stuff

my favorites of Rockabilly are Gene Vincent & Eddie Cochran, I'm back and forth who I like more sometimes I like Gene more the Eddie other times I like Eddie more then Gene.

btw both are very uinderrated

I agree... Buddy Holly is pretty mucdh untouchable as an iconic forefather to the entire musical scene I've know pretty much all my life... he is beyond being knocked or mocked, only the foolhardy would think to do so...

I don't know about the general view on buckethead and the mars volta, but it seems they don't get what they deserve.

I dunno, I think The Mars Volta have been kinda heaped with praise and attention over the course of their album releases...granted, though they are really good...

Buddy Holly is far from underrated, apart from the ignoramus on these boards. Gene Vincent and Eddie Cochrane aren't underrated either. They all get the praise and acknowledgment they deserve aart from on this forum dedicated to the mediocre obscurities.
