I HAVE BEEN LOOKING FOR THIS FOR SO LONG
steve reich is one of my favourite composers and I am glad that I can finally hear it. I've heard that Double Sextet is a masterpiece and blah blah blah and I'm so happy now that I can finally figure out what the hype is about.

^^ Yes it's trip hop, and YES it's worth looking into!

Just grabbed this:

A four-track 7" by a band called forgetters headed by Blake Schwarzenbach, the mad genius who brought us Jawbreaker and Jets To Brazil. It's absolutely brilliant, but it's too damn short!

Also bought the first single off of Maria Taylor's upcoming album. Good stuff.

Yes it is, and it's worthwhile (else I'd not have purchased it)!

Washed Out - Within and Without (2011)
This is pretty damn good. I'm liking the soft, dreamy synths and vocals and the whole hazy, chilled-out feel that this album has and I can't pick a weak song on this album either which is a very good sign. The timing of this album is perfect as it will make a great summer soundtrack.

The Antlers - Burst Apart (2011)

I'm giving this another try. I first grabbed it sometime close to when it came out, but I guess I just wasn't in the mood or something so I didn't get through it. Now I'm far less discriminating and I'm actually enjoying it quite a lot. It's very different from Hospice (2009) and showcases the band's ability to make lightning strike twice. I think what I like most about the album is that a lot of the songs are subtle, you don't really notice them for the first minute or so, but then there's some hook that grabs your attention and then you're immersed in the song.
