The post-blankityblanks are some of my favourite genres. I didn't think much of post-rock either until I heard Sigur Ros' ( ).

I have to say I've never really associated Swans with post-rock. I suppose they have some elements to a few of their later songs that might be described as post-rockish but their overall style certainly isn't.

"()" was better than "Rimur" (2001) and also better than the following "Takk". I always found the vocals unsettling and the rasping sounds weren't very nice either.

The exception to my dislike of "post-" genres is post punk. There are some very good post punk bands (apart from Green Day)

I wouldn't call them a post-rock band but they've had their post-rock moments and have certainly had an influence on it to some degree, at least from my perspective.

Agaetis Byrjun was their crowning glory and they will probably never top it. Speaking of Sigur Ros I went into town yesterday to get Inni and my local record store had every Sigur Ros album except it

Sorry, but I have to make sure I know what's going on here: When has Green Day ever been considered post-punk in an accurate fashion?

as always ditto

i've always took Swans as a ever evolving musical experimentation.....for such a large discography they really rarely created the same sound....while kind of keeping the same feelings....i also would say that in their own right pretty much all of their present beauty....although i agree with Zero's comment about the Jarboe songs.....she brought a very interesting element to the band

Brighter Death Now - Very Little Fun

The Residents - Coochie Brake

Demonic Death Judge - The Descent

Sorry, I know they are "punk rock", but I didn't want anyone to be under a misapprehension that I liked them when I said post punk.
