so glad you enjoyed the entire album....i agree this is a bit hard to place...i kind of feel like listening to this album is like being wisked away by a tornado, landing in Oz....but instead of munchkins the flying monkeys are your friend and Oz is run by a green witch

Swans - The Seer

Thought it started off a bit slow, and maybe found Lunacy leaning towards tackiness, thought it was a little patchy until the title track, which was an easy sell to me, and it improved by loads after that.

Disc 2 is pure ****ing gold.

I'm not great with double albums. I usually find them patchy, unnecessarily long, and full of filler, but I'm pleased with this. I am really surprised though, by how fast it's shot into the top 1000 on RYM. I wouldn't personally call it an instant classic, but it's got a lot of greatness to it.
this is pretty much my thoughts as of now....basically the first disc is a continuation of the previous album....which in my opinion is a little louder than any other Angels of Light album

but the second disc....now this is what i've been waiting for...a continuation of the band Swans

so solely based on short weird reviews i got these to albums

Cat's Eyes - Cat's Eyes

review i read...
Quote:
"Lee & Nancy or Serge & Jane via NIck & Lydia."
so personally i see all six of them at times...which is in no way a bad thing....but this album is soooooo much more....ranging from groovy 60s rock into minimalist chamber pop and back into noisy ambient trip hop....all blended together with hurting lyrics and haunting melodies

pedestrian....i really think you should check this one out....i think you would dig it

Planningtorock - W

review i read...
Quote:
"You know the thing behind the dumpster at Winkie’s in Mullholland Drive? I think it made an album. It’s creepy, lovely, and other-worldly."
this one is little harder for me...it's good and in many ways it holds very true to that review...but it may just be my mood

i'm guessing from what i've read this is a one woman act...if so there is no denying she has an odd yet mesmerizing voice and the compositions are simplistic, oddly fun, and certainly unique to my ears

Cat's Eyes is some kind of side project of The Horrors, is it not? It's been in the back of my mind (and lastfm) for a while now. Planningtorock is also on the list. Really enjoyed Have it All.

apparently they are.....and i will be looking into them asap

also having really listened to the Planningtorock album tonight while driving...wow...to be honest had i heard this last year....it would be within my top ten for the year....to be absolute honest it sounds like an album that thing from Mulholland Drive would make....which is not a bad thing at all

seriously i cannot put my finger on it....it's just a damn weird pop album

Enjoying this album but it's also driving me nuts because it sounds so familiar in that it reminds me of something else and I just can't place it.

Sort-of underwhelmed, but still find it better than "the hungry saw".
