Listening to Ramones' It's Alive in honor of Howard the Duck. The man had some crazy eclectic musical tastes, and loved everything from Lady Gaga to Hellhammer, but when Hermione reminded me in the Shoutbox of his love of the Ramones, I knew this was the way to go. To a strange, perverted, hilarious, great man.

A slightly different kettle of fish but I would like to hear your opinions regarding the album Kill For Love by Chromatics. I think it may be right up your street.
It's certainly far from awful, but it didn't really seem to register with me that much.

I'm listing to Kill For Love by Chromatics right now. I'm actually enjoying this, it's a very melancholic album with some very interesting moments. The first song 'Into The Black' caught me completely off guard, an amazing song. There's a lot of material on this album, which kind of intimidates me a bit but I've enjoyed what I've heard so far. Thanks for the rec!

I lost this when my HD died 6 months ago and it was the first thing I unsuccessfully tried to replace.
So happy to have this back again.

Oh man, let's see what I've bought recently...I've been on a binge at the record stores. Filling in plenty of gaps in my collection.

All the Cars albums are ones I already owned but were really trashed copies that I hated to play, so I upgraded to nice, clean, pristine copies. Great stuff.

Quality Drum N Bass as ever from the Hospital label with a hint of Jazz running through the album. Not that it's your usual MB fare.

Very disappointed with this. Very commercial and a disappointment from a band that revels in playing old school Metal minus the cliches.

Company Flow - Funcrusher Plus (1997)

Not sure if I'm going to have a '90's hip hop week, or just an El-P week. Either way it's been way too long since I've listened to this album and I needed to be reminded of how good, and different hip hop in the '90's was, at least compared to today. This album is definitely one that probably deserves to be listened to on headphones, and as one reviewer mentioned, it's an album that rewards concentration. I'm definitely interested in listening to the Funcrusher EP though, see what they sounded like a year before, and to see how they grew as musicians.

Excellent, what made you stumble upon that one Janszoon? Conan are a band I've seen twice this year and have been stellar on both occasions. Maybe my favourite live band this year. Slomatics are a band I admire but have yet to see live. I'd love to but they don't seem to venture out of Ireland a lot. Hopefully soon. I havent really gave the split a chance yet so I will refrain from passing judgement just yet but Conans LP 'Monnos' is outstanding, as are the Slomatics albums I've heard so I'm very excited.

I would upload it for you Bob but I was having issues with Mediafire last time I tried, which was actually in an attempt to hook you up with the Bong record.

I read an interview with Ken Baluke from Sons of Otis a while back where he mentioned that Slomatics were one of his favorite contemporary bands so I added them to my little "stuff to check out" list. It took me forever to get around to checking them out, but when I finally did, that split with Conan turned out to be the only album I could locate.
