Tagged as "Soul Jazz" and the first track fits the bill. Looking forward to the rest of the album.
It's pretty boring

Les Claypool's take on country music.
The cover of Stayin' Alive is pretty badass.

I was about 4 songs in before I realized it was a cover album.

Macrochips & Microdips - The Samps

Some great funk/psychedelic/electro work that really does flow well throughout the album.

Juçara Marçal - Juçara Marçal
One of those albums that appeared out of the blue on rateyourmusic and what more, was free to download from the band's website. Not an unpromising start, but whether this percussionless approach can persist to keep me engaged is verdict due.

Downloaded:

Pan Sonic - Vakio
Pan Sonic - Kulma

Never heard them but my friend's been raving about them recently. These are their first two albums, of a fairly sprawling discography. If it's as Autechre-esque as I've been led to believe, then I'm sure I'll enjoy it.

Off White - James White and The Blacks

Good post-punk/free-funk with quirky, at-times-out-of-tune-at-times-grating sax work from James Chance. Pulls off well. Nice funky tunes makes it pretty groovy and kind of crazy with everything else that's going on.

Shackleton Freezing Opening Thawing

Fantastic 3 track EP from Sam Shackleton. Bought the download though I wish I could have found a reasonably priced vinyl version. No matter, it sounds excellent either way.

Thievery Corporation - Saudade (2014)

Been awhile since I've listened to anything by them, so we'll see how this goes.

^ In fact I've yet to listen anything of theirs ever since I acquired The Cosmic Game and worked my way backwards from thereon. Rateyourmusic says Downtempo, Bossa Nova and French Pop for this one, which conjures in my mind a 'nice and safe' backgroundish experience - not always admirable qualities nor contemptible in themselves. Might slip it in for one of those late morning 'coffee and chat' platitudes that I tend to crave from time to time.
