I adore that Exploding Hearts album. Pure pop perfection, Pop-Punk's pinnacle in my eyes (if it can be called that).

I felt the urge to seek out some fucked-up sounding black metal this evening and this album hits the spot nicely. The vocalist sounds completely mentally deranged. Actually he is, he supposedly cut off his own hands during the recording of this album and was institutionalised not long after. The vocals here can be either a turn off or define the album. They sound very unsettling and make the music uncomfortable to listen to, giving it a unique atmosphere. Even the instrumentals sound great, with some nice guitar riffs and even piano pieces.
It's great. Nattramn unfortunately never did cut off his hands and have pig hooves sewn on, or split that 5 year old girl's skull open with an axe (that was someone else), but he is institutionalized where he made a new album, with not many copies, he kept one for himself and urinated, vomited, bled, and any other form of defecated all over it.
So when are you gonna move onto this? Silencer fans owe it to themselves

And you gotta love these lyrics

Rip My Throat, Drink My Blood,
Strangle Me, Drown Me,
Give Me Vain And Give Me Pain,
Knives Running Through Me,
Oh, Master Of Wounds - Cut Me
Chase Me, Waste Me,
Leave Me In Your Arms
Cold Hands, Fingers Like Razors,
Break My Neck, Put Out My Light,
Crush My Hope, Rape My Life
Cut Me, Hurt Me, Cut Me, Hurt Me...
Cut Me, Cut Me, Cut Me, Cut Me,
Take My Life, Kill Me And Kill Me
I Am What You Deserve,
Death Do Me Submerge

From reading the backstory I had a feeling a lot of it was urban legend. That's Nattramn's solo project right? I sampled the first few minutes of it and it sounds interesting.

Yep, he's also got a book of poetry (I think it's just poetry) out called Grishjärta.

Photo from his solo stuff, perfectly good hands

Nattramn is where it's at though. Been listening to Death Pierce Me on a pretty regular basis for a while.

Important to note that at the end of "Taklamakan" he's just cutting and stabbing himself, and recording the genuine cries of pain and agony.

Biosphere - Substrata
Nice, cold 90s Ambient with Twin Peaks samples!

A live set from the frequent Boris collaborator. Just her, a guitar, and a piano. Minimalist and vulnerable, really beautiful.

Sold.

The last record I bought was Yo La Tengo's deluxe reissue of Painful, which came with an extra disc of demos and a 7in of "Shaker". Not my image, but it gives you an idea:
