Not a big fan of electronica but this is pretty good. Russian composer Anton Talnov, otherwise known as Antalio, lays down some spacey, atmospheric electronic music with added wolf howls, which is never a bad thing. Only gripe is that if you are a fan of his and have heard his Nocturne Z there are two tracks from it on this album, which only leaves you with five new tracks. Good stuff though.

Wintry wolf tales --- Antalio

Lightning Bolt - Fantasy Empire

well what can i say....this is Lightning Bolt (Lite).....still great noise but nothing like their early stuff.....these songs feeling like ****ing radio hits....or as close as they could ever get to them....still its fuzzy and noisy guitar rock.....with elements of math (and hair metal vocals).....

i just don't know......

John Zorn - Hen To Pan

actually this one is pretty damn amazing....actually in many ways reminds me of the Under The Skin score....as in the string arrangements are fluid yet extremely unsettling....as always with anything Zorn does this is beyond interesting....but this album supersedes interesting and really becomes something magical....as i expect it was meant to

edit

the Lightning Bolt album is REALLY growing on me.....

I didn't get to listen to the new Modest Mouse album, most likely will listen tomorrow. I decided to recap on their older stuff. My fav cut on the album being float on.

Ever heard something described as Progressive Doom/Post-Metal/Space Rock? This is it apparently. Very atmospheric, at times crushing riffs with a real undercurrent of paranoia and darkness and yet quite stark beauty. One-man thing, from Germany, only three tracks and they all run into each other but comes out at about forty-odd minutes of music.

Spiral --- Plastic Violins of Darkness

Thin Lizzy - Black Rose: A Rock Legend

Had never heard that one until yesterday. Kind of meh, but Moores guitar playing really shines, especially the last track.

Modest Mouse - Strangers to Ourselves (2015)
I didn't have high expectations coming into this, as I hated their last album with a passion, but I had a sliver of hope that I might enjoy it (just as I did before the last one). They released quite a few singles ahead of the album but I only listened to the first one, which I thought wasn't bad. Including that one, I've enjoyed quite a few songs. One thing I hated about We Were Dead... was how obnoxious it all sounded, the vocals and lyrics just annoyed the piss out of me and I never warmed up to the album, even though I tried again every year or so since. Some of the material here is more toned down, vocally and instrumentally, allowing me to enjoy the song without feeling like I'm being yelled at by a clown. There are a few songs so far that are weirdly dancey and almost electronic, that made me twist my face a little as it was unexpected...but not to the point of a cringe as caused by some songs on We Were Dead. Though I'm almost certain I would enjoy the album more without them. Aside from that, there was a little bit of the obnoxiousness found on We Were Dead but in smaller doses. It's not an album full of it. Again, no high hopes overall, but it's already miles better than We Were Dead after one listen.

I'd love to see your signature/links too, but the huge and obnoxious ones have caused me to block all signatures.

Paul Simon - Still Crazy After All These Years - 1975

"I do it for your love" absolutely gives me chills. The David Sanborn version is pretty good too.
