Their website is a bit of a cluster ****. Instead of just listing the clubs and the acts it’s like make your on schedule but it’s like way harder than just looking at the schedule.

I mean ffs just post the schedule. I’m trying to figure out what I could actually see and even after the pain of registering and logging in it’s still a bitch.

Instead of trying to be so ****ing fancy they need to just say make a one page pdf. Or at least something you can ****ing print. It’s the land of a million clicks in there.

Im talking about the big ears festival if anyone is wondering what I’m on about.

Iron Maiden ~ The Book Of Souls

They lost their way a bit in the mid 90s, with Dickinson and Smith's departure.

Once they returned, though, every album from, say, Dance Of Death on, they just keep bringing it.

The Book Of Souls is as tight, hard core, Maiden as anything from their hey-day. You'd never know these guys are all in their late 50s, early 60s.

The only thing I could never figure out is why they kept that Jannick Gers guy.

I like his guitar sound, but he plays all his solos as fast as he can. I can understand he probably overcompensates because he's gotta get on stage with Dave Murray and Adrian Smith every night.

But there's no excuse for all that dancing around and guitar swirling and twirling he does. You want to do that sh*t, go play for Nightranger or something.

It's funny that I'd put it exactly opposite: That with Dance Of Death and onwards, they rapidly lost their appeal record by record, The Book Of Souls striking me as an impossibly turgid record that compares incredibly poorly to even a relatively recent album like Brave New World.

I just can't deal with post-Brave Iron Maiden. It bores me numb.

Like I told TH, give A Matter of Life and Death another shot. That and Brave New World are the only Maiden albums I really listen to anymore.

The only reason while I might actually do that, is that I've listened to that album much less than all other modern Maiden albums. Can't remember 3/4 of the songs at all, really.

It's not as immediate as other Maiden albums, which kinda throws one off cause they're ****ing Iron Maiden, but it's definitely a grower.

What's your take on The Final Frontier? That has to be the least immediate Iron Maiden album ever. Did it even have a single hook or memorable riff? I just remember endlessly protracted intros, outros and mid paced indifference. And it's like 7 hours long or something.
