Hatfield and the North - The Rotters' Club

Dunno why its taken me so long to pick this up, considering the reputation of this album being one of the the three best Canterbury albums "ever". Not sure if it lives up to that praise as of yet, but I'm definitely digging it so far, especially the keyboards.

Faith No More - Angel Dust

Seriously, this album was originally released ON A MAJOR LABEL?

this is where i post when i cant be bothered to contribute anything interesting. so eat this

Fucking sweet. This came out in 1999, it's the original crew of producer extraordinaire (anybody who doesn't own Madvillainy, hip-hop head or not, get on that sh*t) and MC (as Quasimoto) Madlib and it's just... pure head-nodding funkiness without being outdated/old skool (whatever your bag is). Sort your life out and cop this. If you don't, you hate music and therefore don't belong here. BAN YOURSELF

1997. Morrissey is apparently a racist. He did a song I haven't heard with Bengali in the title which is supposed to be nasty about Indian people. Cornershop are, as the name would suggest if you are British, Indian-British.
This album and this band have been totally blotted out by the huge success of Fatboy Slim's remix of the hit 'Brimful of Asha'.

But sweep all that aside and uncover an album that seamlessly fuses Eastern modes/raga, 90's indie and electronic/dance music AND manages not to sound contrived/a f*cking mess you have an album worth checking out. Peppered with insane instrumentals that at times straddle trip-hip-hop and even country (don't run away!) and indecipherable/profound lyrics addressing nonsense/racial cliche this is also an album I just know I would enjoy with a spliff, if I still smoked. I don't think that makes any difference I was just running out of things to say now but I don't want to stop. Okay I'm stopping..... now.

One of my favorite albums and one of the few I'd describe as basically perfect.

I'm pretty sure that Urban rates that album too. I must admit to have never hearing it.

Finally got some Mazzy Star in my collection:
