i found it quite unbelievable tat there r quite a lot of ppl,especially adults such as parents,in s'pore who look down on ppl who r into cultures especially cultures like emo,punk,skinhead,gothic,ska,metal & etc..y is tat so i wonder???

I think the word you wanna use is genre.

And all that (what you're talking about) stems from people expressing their individuality and their likeness or dislikeness for certain kinds of music.
Happens a lot.

Someone's always bashing some one for liking emo though. It varies more or less from place to place though

This question is pretty stupid, why do people look down on different cultures? Because they're different.

Also skinheads (by more then just adults) are generally disliked due to the amount of racism involved.

Look at the early DC Hardcore scene. Hardcore Kids were beaten with bats. And that was true for all of America. People hate change.
