Nick Drake has always had a cult following here in the UK. Maybe because he is quintessentially English in terms of his delivery and melancholy. I personally am not a big fan. I like some tracks of his. He could play guitar, he just played it unusually according to his music producer JOE BOYD.

When Led Zep came out, they were panned. And I'm saying if you were alive then, you'd have hated them. The critics today love Led Zep and thus your opinion. Ill give you that you don't like how Brock sings, and thats fine, but you also mentioned that critics and indie hipsters love them which means its more that an added bonus. It sounds as if their praise annoys you more than their music. but enough about Modest Mouse, Led Zep, and your lack of original opinions. The argument in this thread started when you refused to believe anyone could dislike these classic albums without the motive of pissing people off. I think those reviews were dead on. To some people John Cale's viola sounds out of tune. To some people Brock sings out of tune, you just willfully see one as acceptable and the other as less so. And as for my own pretentious nature (which again, you've backed up with no examples, arguments, or anything more than the statement itself), my bold, misspelled assertions may in fact be reactionary, but at least there my own. One of the problems I see with MusicBanter is that people fall in line to avoid flaming "newbhood", and it leads to stagnant discussion, as does your review of nearly every album. You just carry the opinion on. If we all agreed on the same albums as great, this place would suck. I find the OP to be a refreshing option to have discourse on the sacred cows we never speak about because its assumed their great and we all love it. Thats the most important point Ill make all week and it will be skipped over to make some glib insult to redeem someone integrity. Its no less true.

What is objective about taste? Nothing. Thats all we ever talk about, nothing remotely close to being objective. You mouth off a load of bands you dont like (aka the bands that are actually good) and speak it as objective fact, this is what everyone here does. So because I decide to play a little provocative game of fighting fire with fire I'm being unreasonable and unfair? I'm not contributing enough? I'm not being objective? I don't owe you people a damn thing.
