What genre is in control right now??? (country, hip-hop, metal)

dammit Nas. See what you have everyone doing quoting that BS line about "hip hop is dead" when they have no clue what they are talking about. hip hop is still alive, kicking and doing well.....just because you can't look past the ring tone rappers and mainstream garbage to find it then that's on you.

Radio friendly bit-pop/rock seems to be dominating these past months which isn't great but ....ergh, atleast it's not s club 7, thank god ive heard nothing of the spice girls since they announced their tour.

Why the need for ourfavourite genre? Have i got the point of this thread wrong or is the poll just for ****s and giggles?

Aye, I think it was uninentional, just to see how our favourite genres as members seem to corospond with the genre that's in control of the music industry right now i think.

I voted for Hip hop. the reason why they are the main genre is because they have a hold on the music industry. notice how every song is always featured by another artist. in a way it kind of makes me mad because it seems like they cant do anything on their own, which they obviously can, but there is strength in numbers. if more artists colab together as opposed to one rock band, the colab is more likely favored to get the majority. and since most of the hip hop/r&b industry today is colabs with different artists, it outweighs the other genres.

Nah. Pop rap/contemp r&b are most popular not because of collaborations, but because they have the most marketable images in a modern urban context.
