To offer a personal interpretation.
I think the whole I hate Pink Floyd thing was done for 2 reasons.
To get a reaction because it was such an unpopular opinion to have at the time , and if he did mean it I think it was to speak out about what Pink Floyd became rather than what they were when they started. I find it hard to believe that someone like John Lydon who lists such bands as Hawkwind , Can & Van Der Graff Generator as some of his favourites would hate Barrett era Pink Floyd to that extent.
Also there were plenty of punk bands influenced by that era of Pink Floyd. The Soft Boys , Alternative TV , The Cardiacs & The Prisoners to name but 4.
