You mean Malcom was getting rich off it. Have you never read John Lydon's autobiograghy or seen The Filth and the Fury? And I belive it was Tommy or Richard Hell that described them as a Bubble Gum Metal band.

Yeah there's nothing metal about the Ramones so I'd say that comparison is off and either way Sid was able to afford enough money to become a junkie so it's pretty safe to say they weren't totally broke.

You don't have to be rich to become addicted to drugs. Sid Vicious did nothing to help their music except their image. Which he kind of ripped off from the Ramones.

Their image was more accurately stolen from Richard Hell, Malcolm even admitted he saw what he was doing and took it to England and to become a heroin addict you do have to become pretty wealthy it's not cheap.

Um you admitted Malcolm McLaren was in charge of their image HE admits he took it from Richard Hell then you say Johnny Rotten had nothing to do with this? Maybe you need to figure out your own stance before questioning anyone else's and if heroin was so cheap because Sid was friends with Nancy why after the Sex Pistols broke up was Sid going from apartment to apartment with her and not shacking up nicely? Because he was just broke or because he was blowing all his money on heroin? I'm more inclined to believe the latter. It's all fine and dandy if you say the Sex Pistols made no money off what they did but they sure as well were taken care of and were being benefited by the system they sang about smashing.

John Lydon created his own image with the I hate Pink Floyd shirt, it had holes all over it not because it looked cooled because he was poor. The real brains for Punk fashion in the U.K. came from Vivienne Westwood and John Lydon and to some lesser extent Malcom. Malcom helped them get into the papers everyday and came up with the idea of playing God Save the Queen on the Thames outside of Parliment on the Queens Silver Jubilee.
