What do you think of MTV? (music video, punk, rap, fan)

Of course all they play is what is popular would it make any sense if they didn’t all they care about is making money. but I cant believe they still have the balls to call it music television

I think MTV sucks now that they only put on programs like 'Room Raiders' or 'Pimp My Ride'. I have always been a fan of MTV2, though. It plays the music I like, has a 'no commercials zone', and Gonzo. Gonzo is brill. Gonzo rules...

I listen to mtv since 1979 the very first day it came on. But for the most part I'd say for the past few years it is really really bad!!!!!!! I don't like the music they play its either bubble gum female pop or hip-hop/rap. Mtv in the 70's 80' and early 90's was so much better. Especially the the 70's and 80's. Mtv 2 I use to have but digital cable comcast tv is far too expensive so we had to downgrade to just basic cable. which only carries Mtv and that sucks! Mtv has too many stupid useless non-music related programs like the awful jessica simpson and her sisters reality show. The real world has been going on for far too long. I hate all those special show the only ones I tolerate is pimp my ride at times. Now vh1 is just as bad but believe it or not a bit better than mtv. It's weird to see rockers like velvet revolver ( couple of the guns & roses band members ) on their channel. What I'm saying is that some of the older rock or metal/ hard rockers are now on the vh1 channel. I try to just listen to the cd player and the radio, this way I can choose the music I love the most.

mtv is too gangsta and image-obsessive, but that's what the people want to see. not surprisingly, i read that the average age of the typical mtv viewer is under 18, so that might explain some things.

Music Television and Video Hits, where?

"Reality" TV has set in, with these mindless silly shows that are in no way related to music. P. Diddy's "Making the Band" at least gave you an idea of what it takes to get in the biz. VH1 gives you some nostagia with the flash back shows, but there is very, very little value left in MTV. A shame. Scary what the youth of America and the world are being presented.

More and more people are turning to the Internet to find new and emerging music artists, to find interesting new bands.

I gave up a long time ago... "bad band (if you can call it a band) in most cases goes to the top. Good band makes it, next album is krap, becomes a bad band at the top.... " Does that sound familiar to anyone?

I don't think that mtv is too bad, mtv hits really sucks but some of the programmes r really funny and mtv2 is really cool. I just wish that they would stop subjecting us to newlyweds coz it really is a waste of time...as for punk'd, thats class...Justin timberlake crying like a baby...classic. and recently they did greenday: making the video, that woz cool.

MTV is all over crap, i've only watched it a few times being from australia i dont get it much...but its exactly like our channel V!! they dont put any good music on anymore. channel v mainly has aussie punk bands that r really local and they have alot of live shows, we need a good music tv station me thinks
