Honestly I don't think PF's that great, and they've made only three albums I really love. When they hit, they hit, but they got caught up in themselves a bit too much sometimes.

I like progarchives because its a great site for discovering good prog bands. I don't always agree with its ratings.

And how would you decide who is better? This is a preference poll. I personally think King Crimson are better than Metallica and The Doors, though I love The Doors and like Metallicas early stuff.

No, he chooses what artists go into each poll, in this he knows elliot smith will go through, so he's put in four artists he doesn't like in order to get rid of three. He's not fixing the votes, he's fixing the poll options. Either way King Crimson is beating Elliot smith, ****ing yes.

Well let's be honest here... King Crimson is just as important as the Doors.

King Crimson basically invented prog rock and are THE definitive prog band. They're the band which constantly progresses from album to album, the band which expands the boundaries of music, and the band which generally summarises prog. It is rare for a band to be able to experiment so much over 40 years to the extent that they alienate half of their fanbase, yet be so consistent throughout their discography.

Anyway, that's just my say in this... vote based on your criteria (and most criteria are subjective), but if we're talking about importance, I wouldn't underestimate KC.
