Default popular vs unpopular

what u guys think. if a group is played on.. lets say Mtv, will you stop liking them just becuase that? If you like a group, it shouldnt matter if they get popular later

I will use all amecian rejects as an ex. I heard about it 2 monthes before it came out from a friend. It came out, it seemed every body liked it a lot (meaning all my friends) then about the time it got on MTV, no one listened to them anymore. It was really weird. I still like them.

... yeah Dude... some people refer to these bands as "sellouts"...which in a sense is completely ridiculous...if you had the chance to become famous and make millions would you take it?? Of course...Say Thrice for example... i ahve listened to them for about 2-3 years now and they finally are becoming alot more popular... which is cool for them... but at first i was pissed(like communication drive is) i was mad when i heard preppy girls talking about them... but now i have just learned to live with it.

I think it's fine for a band to go play for MTV and make a lot of money as long as they do not change their music or forget about the fans that got them there. So as long as the band can become popular, but remain the same then I have no problem with it.

I totally agree. Some people act cool when they say people are selloutd because they might even do a commercial or something...but if you did a commercial, and you werent a band, would you be a sellout?
I mean, its easy money. and no crap about "**** why is all about the money?!"
Bands need to make money too, and why not make as much as you can and live the life you want. if they stay true to who they are, who cares how they get their money.

I agree with Spencer ....bands got to make money ..fans should actually be happy that they are doing that, cause then they have the money to make the albums and tour more, and so fans actually get more too

Here's a thought; let's stop labeling music and fighting over what genre a certain band is, and start listening to whatever pleases our ears no matter what anyone thinks of it! ;)

Sellouts aren't a band that get popular. They are a band who has a CD and becomes really popular. Then they change the sound of their music in order to continue as a "popular" band in order to stay in main stream culture instead of sticking to the roots of them being an artist/group. I don't like sellouts, but there is nothing wrong with being popular.

Personally I couldn't give a fook if a band is popular or not - if I like them I like them, simple!
