Cassie definitely has a lame voice.
Wayne Coyne is probably the worst singer of the alternative rock world. But don't get me wrong, the Lips are great. Just youtube any live clip; he sounds as if he had a sumo wrestler eating fries on his chest.

His distinctive style is what made the Lips who they are. Even if he is a bit off-key, Wayne Coyne's vocals have always been the centerpiece of the Lips.

He might have the coolest falsetto ever, the Flaming Lips would sound awful if Coyne only sung in a deeper voice like Beck (but he has a good voice too).

Wayne Coyne? Are you kidding me?

Let's try something more realistic. Guys like Coyne and Kiedis do their thing and they do it well.

Prince, now that's a singer I can't stand.

No, the centerpiece of the Lips is the exuberance of their sound; the theatricality and bombasticness, the over-the-top arrangements. And although I like the sound of his voice, his actual singing could've been a lot better. Wayne Coyne is just a darn nice guy who's lucky that his band is that good. And of course he fills a part in the band, but in my opinion, he's not as indispensable as, say, Drozd.

I agree that Coyne does fill his part in the way that only he can. A singer's voice, to me, is the most important 'instrument' in a band, and therefor, I feel he's the least dispensable.

Michael James Williams.

I mean, I love Prince Far I, but his voice has never really impressed me. That said, it's hardly the point of the sound he trades in though.
