Except I am pretty sure there is a way to distinguish if the cd is burnt or not. I heard if you fess up now for downloading you wont get arrested or anything, but if they catch you, you either go to jail or pay 2 bucks per song you have downloaded.

Here's a thought; let's stop labeling music and fighting over what genre a certain band is, and start listening to whatever pleases our ears no matter what anyone thinks of it! ;)

That would be one option, yes. I don't promote music piracy, but I do promote protecting yourself from RIAA.

There are so many rumors going around right now it's hard to tell what's true and what's not. I think the best thing is just to play it clean and if you're really curious then check the RIAA website for what they have to say.

If you got KaZaA Lite, it has an option to block all the bad guys isp's (a.k.a. RIAA.) So use KaZaA Lite if it is possible to still find it free, and working. After the big bust of hacked versions of KaZaA it is impossible to find it. I've looked every where it either is a broken link or you gotta pay.

You don't have to worry, because you live in Australia.
