I like a few of their songs. I think Rush Of Blood To The Head is a fairly good album in that they developed a pretty interesting sound. In fact I'd say all round they can probably be credited with not being faceless and having their own allotment on the sonic field so to speak. But with that said, a lot of the songs are just so innocuous and banal, and the lyrical content so mundane. So there is only so far I can go with liking this band.

But I do have good memories associated with them. I remember a really shitty winter job I was working after finishing hischool back in 2000, and the only consolation was hearing Trouble blurting through the radio system over and over again, every single day.

Shiver is the only song i really get excited over. Reminds me a lot of Radiohead - Creep though. The rest just seems to morph into one mesh of 'meh' though.

It seems no British rock band can escape the comparison with Radiohead. It's getting quite tedious...

I think it's just that a number of post-britpop bands in particular, namely the likes of Coldplay, Athelete and Keane, are clearly influenced by what Radiohead did with guitar music rather than the more general tradition of 90s britpop, so they end up compared.

With that said, I agree that it's tedious, since the aims of these bands are entirely different. At the essence, Coldplay and Radiohead have virtually nothing in common at all. Coldplay's a pop band, and one of the better ones in British music at the moment.
