Default Am I too old to pursue a career in music?

I'm 23. I'll be 24 next month. I haven't yet got my start, but I'm trying. I play guitar. Have the dream of being a rock star. Am I too old?

Age has nothing to do with anything in music. You just need passion, time, and money.

Dude, you're 24, not 67. You didn't peak in high school. You have a lifetime ahead of you, rich in experiences, loves, new friends, and memories... If you decide to. Go out. Live your life. Become a rock star. Become a hobo. Take life by the scruff of its neck and shake it like a dog. Maybe it will give up in your hands and whimper, maybe it will bite back... But at least you'll know that you tried and didn't just give up and lie down and let the dog eat your carcass.

It has almost everything to do with being a successful big star.

And you need commitment. Age is irrelevant. If you're going to do this, do it, and don't fuck around on the internet. Don't come back here until you've leveled up your guitar skills even more than where they are now.

What are you on about? Plenty of big stars fought and struggled and ate ramen for years until they hit their stride at 40, 50, 60. If you're in it because you're passionate it'll be worth it to you. If you just want money and fame and **** then you're probably right, you're a lost cause.

Well, it just sounded like you thought I was good. Lol

I feel that I should have started pursuing this about 5 years ago. By starting now, I'll be nearly 30 before I start seeing any success. Too old to be a young rock star.

No I just don't want to be just hitting success when I'm 30+. The age when every other person my age has 3 kids and are in parent mode. Can't enjoy the thrill of it all happening and still being a kid. I think I will put away the dream. It's dumb anyway.
