Default The best thing that you heard about from MB

Post about your favorite recs you've received on this forum:

Psyfi posted the 2X4's in a thread about Boston post punk

there's only 2 recorded songs from them that I can even find but they're both knockouts and I would have never heard of them from anywhere else

Bridgeport Lathe instantly ranked on my top 20 punk songs of all time

Trollheart got me into Prince.

JC got me into Azymuth (one of my all time favourite tracks as well).

Those are the two obvious ones, but I spend too much time talking shit to discover lots of new artists.

I think it was Sansa who got me into This Heat and they're right there with Beefheart and Shabazz.

Goofle was a key figure in getting me into hip hop, so props for that. Even before he started specifically recommending things to me, his album club pick, To Whom It May Concern... by Freestyle Fellowship was what sparked my curiosity about the genre.

This is the best thing he's recced me though.

I think I've only found 2 things on this forum so far that I've actually ended up buying:

The group Luar Na Lubre. I can't remember who posted it. One of the posters that don't participate much in here.

And Marillion. I knew of Marillion already, but Trollheart got me to give them a closer listen.

Got to give it to Batty: he got me deeper into metal than I ever was, and opened my eyes to the likes of death, doom and black metal. Mondo too; he was pretty instrumental in that.

the meatraffle album Frown rec'd was fantastic in that it had all the charms of a post punk album while still sounding like its own thing pretty refreshing for a genre that's devolved into hero worship to a degree
